Scientific Writing Course -- Applications open until Dec 1st

The Department of Surgery's popular Scientific Writing Course is intended for UCSF faculty, postdoctoral fellows and residents whose research focus is in the biological sciences and clinical/translational medicine. The course objective is to learn and practice specific ways to marshal the details of a biomedical research paper or grant proposal into a clear, concise, and comprehensible story that will be understandable to an interdisciplinary readership (papers), or meet the agency's review criteria (proposals). The course covers Techniques for Writing and Revising, Reports of Original Research and Grant Proposals. Expect didactic presentations, class discussions, and significant writing and revising, both in class and outside of class, with feedback from the instructor. This is not an ESL writing course.  The fee is $575 for UCSF researchers, payable by personal check (to the UC Regents) or by departmental recharge (chartstring information- ­ a form will be provided).
