On-campus internship in Tech Licensing

The UCSF Technology Management (Licensing) Internship Program in the Office of Technology Management  (OTM) offers a unique opportunity for interested individuals to gain exposure and experience in the area of university technology commercialization and intellectual property management.  Interns work closely with Technology Licensing Officers on a part-time basis, assisting with technology assessments.  The goal of the program is to offer support for the Licensing Team while providing a useful educational experience for the Interns.

The major duties for the Intern would be new technology evaluations (for patentability and commercial viability purposes) and putting together marketing material for new technologies (non-confidential disclosures and generating company lists tailored to each specific technology and finding the appropriate contact people at these companies).

This is a part-time internship.  Interns need to be currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. program in the Life Sciences or Engineering. We expect our interns to commit 10 hrs/week for at least six months.  Interns are also expected to attend weekly staff meetings and inventor meetings, so local candidates only.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. To inquire about opportunities and to apply for the internship, please send your resume and cover letter to Ellen Kats, at [email protected], or Cathy Smith at [email protected] .
