Call for Nominations: Distinction in Mentoring Award - Deadline Friday, Nov 22, 2019 4pm

The 2019-2020 Academic Senate Distinction In MENTORING Awards

In 2009 the Academic Senate and the Committee on Academic Personnel began conferring the Distinction In Mentoring Awards.  The Academic Senate strives to recognize and celebrate excellence in faculty mentoring, an essential component to faculty success and institutional excellence.

The Academic Senate Distinction in Faculty Mentoring Award recognizes exceptional mentoring by faculty, to faculty—and faculty to clinical and/or postdoctoral fellows.  (Exceptional mentoring by faculty to students is recognized by the Distinction In Teaching Award, which the Senate began in 1951.)

All faculty in the Ladder Rank, In Residence, Clinical X, Health Sciences Clinical, and Adjunct series with UCSF appointments at 50% or more time (at UCSF itself or its affiliates such as Fresno, the VA, ZSFG, and BCHO) are eligible for nomination.  This award will be given in two categories: faculty at the rank of Associate Professor (in any series previously mentioned), and faculty at the rank of Full Professor.

Recipients of this award will receive an award plaque, an honorarium, and will be recognized by the Senate in a ceremony to be held in spring 2020.

UCSF faculty or fellows may nominate UCSF faculty for the Academic Senate Distinction in Mentoring Awards.

Nominators must submit materials online including filling out the online nomination form, and uploading a single PDF through the Senate Service Portal (found through MyAccess) no later than 4:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2019. Relevant links with additional information, DIM Nomination form (required), and webpage to upload nomination packet are at the bottom of this email.
