Join us this Thursday March 7 as SACNAS at UCSF welcomes 6 speakers from Gilead Sciences to discuss their career trajectories into industry along with their efforts to recruit and support underrepresented scientists to Gilead through Gileados. Gileados is the Latino employee resource group dedicated to helping drive one of Gilead’s core values of diversity.

About the speakers: 

Maribel Reyes, PhD
Maribel Reyes, PhD is a Senior Clinical Pharmacologist at Gilead where she leads clinical pharmacology strategy for global drug development. Prior to moving to Gilead, Maribel worked for over 5 years in Switzerland at Novartis and Actelion Pharmaceuticals. Maribel received her PhD from UCSF and is an alum of the PSPG graduate program.

Jorge Escobar
Jorge Escobar is the Director of Clinical Operations, Early Phase Development at Gilead. He oversees the management of clinical program managers and study leads that conduct early phase clinical studies. He received his Bachelors from UCLA.

Raul Aguilar, PhD
Raul Aguilar, PhD is a Senior Manager of Biostatistics at Gilead.  Raul started at Gilead in 2012 as a Biostatistician Contractor after completing his postdoc at UC Berkeley. He received his PhD in Biostatistics from UC Berkeley.

Randy Reyes, JD
Randy Reyes, JD is a Contracts Manager at Gilead where he manages the negotiation of contracts and agreements involved throughout the drug development and clinical trial process. Randy received his JD from the Santa Clara University School of Law.

Urbano Chaidez
Urbano Chaidez is an Associate Director, Human Resources Program Manager at Gilead. Urbano has previously worked in HR for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Microsoft Corporation. He received his Masters in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.

Norma Pantoja
Norma Pantoja is a Regulatory Affairs Specialist at Gilead. Norma previously worked at UCSF as a Protocol Development Specialist, IND Coordinator and Senior Regulatory Affairs Specialist. She received her Bachelors from UC Berkeley.
