Basic Science Seminar - Samara Reck-Peterson

Date:
November 27, 2018
Time:
12:10pm-1:10pm
Place:
GH AUD 106

We invite you to attend the next Basic Science Seminar and join host, Ron Vale in welcoming our guest speaker, Dr. Samara Reck-Peterson, Investigator, HHMI; Professor of Cellular and Molecular Medicine and Division of Biological Sciences at UC Davis on Tuesday, November 27, 12:10-1:10pm in GH AUD 106 for her talk titled: “Molecular Mechanisms of the Intracellular Transport System”

Eukaryotic cells use microtubule tracks to move cargo over long distances. There are two types of molecular motors that move on microtubules: dyneins and kinesins. Dyneins move cargo towards the minus ends of microtubules, typically towards the cell interior. Most kinesins move cargo in the opposite direction, generally towards the cell surface. The Reck-Peterson Lab is tackling broad questions about how the transport system works.

We very much encourage attendance but in the event you cannot make it in person, you can either log into MyAccess to get into the class capture link-  (https://tinyurl.com/2018FallBSS) or if at Parnassus, HSW 7th fl. conference room where the class capture will be shown live.

You can now tweet us questions @Ucsf_Biochem where we will read them in real time after the seminar.
