Science Policy Group (SPG) -- District Attorney debate

Date:
October 21, 2019
Time:
6:00pm-8:00pm
Place:
Byers Auditorium, Genentech Hall (UCSF Mission Bay)

Dear UCSF Postdocs,

This year the Science Policy Group at UCSF is co-hosting the final non-partisan district attorney debate of this election season with the Phillip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies on October 21st, 6-8pm, in Byers Auditorium, Genentech Hall (UCSF Mission Bay).

We’re excited to host this event as this is the first open race for district attorney in over 100 years in San Francisco! This race and the candidates have been garnering attention from news outlets like the New York Timesthe SF examiner, the Huffington Post, LA times, and even Teen Vogue

Because it's the first competitive race in 110 years the candidates are tackling issues like mass incarceration, mental health, property crime, homelessness, and police violence (in addition to more "traditional" issues district attorneys discuss).

This event will be moderated by Dr. Brie Williams, MD, MS, Director of the Criminal Justice & Health Program at UCSF.  It should be an exciting debate! We will have on site voter registration (this will be the last day to register) and we will provide light dinner!

Please RSVP here. The event is open to the public so please share widely with friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. We look forward to seeing you there!

Organized by the Science Policy Group (via Elina Kostyanovskaya) & the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (via Dr. Claire Brindis)
